Continental Tyres champions safety and efficiency

Continental Tyres is to highlight the importance of optimising tyre safety and efficiency in the materials handling workplace at the FLTA’s National Fork Lift Safety Conference 2017, 20th September, Heart of England Events & Conference Centre.

As part of the event’s seminar programme, Tony Gallagher, Continental Tyre’s Key Accounts Manager, National Fleets, will examine the impact tyres have on every fork lift truck operation and how making the right choice of both tyre and service provider will help support Health & Safety goals in the face of ever-tightening budgets.

“Safety is at the heart of Continental,” explains Tony. “It runs through the DNA of our business from cars, vans, trucks, motorbikes, bicycles and all our specialty products for fork lift trucks. We are constantly developing new technologies across our business to make every application where a Continental tyre is used, safer, so we are delighted to be part of the FLTA’s National Fork Lift Safety Conference programme to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to champion Health & Safety improvements throughout the industry.”

Continental is also using the conference to introduce developments within the Continental Industrial Network to highlight the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) accreditation for all its tyres fitters through a series of dedicated training courses, which include modules to cover health and safety, best practice and understanding of Health & Safety regulations. In addition, Continental continues the focus on fitter safety; each Continental Industrial Network partner has been issued with a mobile press with unique safety features to reduce risk when tyres are being pressed onto bands.

“Developing people within our Network has been a strategic focus for Continental and our relationship with the IMI has provided independent accreditation and certification, to ensure quality throughout our network partners. In addition, we have invested over £1 million and have been working with leading equipment manufacturer Penny Hydraulics to create top of the range mobile presses which ensures the safety of the fitter when the press is in operation. Together, our IMI certification and network investment are part of our strategy to ensure our network is the best qualified, safest and most trusted in the industry,” adds Tony.
