ForgeFix Princess Leia portrait a force for good

Thanks to its donation of a unique piece of artwork, ForgeFix has helped to raise over £500 for CRASH at the recent NMBS Gala Dinner.

The image, which depicts actress Carrie Fisher in her iconic role as Princess Leia from the Star Wars films, comes from a series of portraits which ForgeFix has trademarked ScrewsArt. It has been created using more than 5,000 of the company’s ForgeFast elite performance woodscrews and was sold at a silent auction held at the annual NMBS Gala Dinner, which took place on Tuesday 10th April in the E.ON Lounge at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry the night before its well-attended exhibition.

It was ultimately bought by Callum Kegg from Toolstop – an NMBS merchant member and one of the UK’s largest independent stockists and distributors of quality professional tools.

Brian Trevaskiss, Marketing Manager at ForgeFix, said: “The Princess Leia and other ScrewsArt portraits have been created with the help of both existing and potential customers who attended the ForgeFast launch events in 2016 and who have visited our stand at various exhibitions over the last few years.

“We began offering these customers the opportunity to insert screws into a series of templates to enable them to experience the unique benefits of the ForgeFast range for themselves and to sample the many benefits which make these fastenings worthy of being called ‘elite’ rather than simply ‘premium’ products. True to ForgeFix’s progressive approach, it was an innovative take on the traditional product test.”

Other ScrewsArt portraits created to date have depicted sporting legend, Muhammad Ali and music icon, David Bowie. Indeed, the Bowie portrait was sold in a similar silent auction on behalf of CRASH held at the NMBS Gala Dinner in 2017 and raised £1,000 for the charity.

Speaking on behalf of CRASH, Zanika Fearon, fundraising and events manager at the charity, added: ‘‘We are so grateful to ForgeFix for donating this magnificent piece of artwork for the charity auction at the NMBS Gala Dinner. The money raised will support our vital work to help people who are homeless or need end of life care in a hospice. We are extremely thankful for the part ForgeFix has played in helping CRASH continue to create places that care for people.”

CRASH is the construction industry charity which supports homelessness and hospice charities by sourcing pro bono professional expertise, building materials and awarding cash grants donated by the construction and property industry.
