Growth recognition award handed to Flame

Flame Heating Group is celebrating further award success after taking home another prestigious honour.

The Gateshead-headquartered company won the Let’s Grow Award, sponsored by Square One Law, at the Northumberland & Tyneside heat of the North East Business Awards. The award recognises companies that have demonstrated rapid growth over the last 12 months.

Established in 2011, Flame saw turnover soar to £14.5m in 2017, up from £6.4m a year earlier, and increased its workforce to more than 50 employees. It now operates eight branches in the North East and two outlets in Scotland – its first outside of the region – with a third expected north of the border this spring.

In 2017, the merchant launched its first bathroom showroom in Durham, which followed two branch launches in Newcastle and Cramlington.

This latest success follows award wins for John Savage, Managing Director of Flame, who was named the 2017 BQ National Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year and the North East’s 2017 BQ Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year. John was also a finalist at the 2017 North East Business Executive of the Year Awards.

After winning the Northumberland & Tyneside heat, Flame has advanced to the grand final of the Business Awards, where it will compete against the region’s top companies in April.

John Savage, Managing Director of Flame Heating Group, said: “We have enjoyed tremendous year-on-year growth since the company was established, and are gearing up for further expansion and job creation. It is always a nice feeling to be recognised by your peers in the business community, and I am delighted that we have won another prestigious award.

“It is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated workforce that has allowed us to increase our customer base through expansion into new areas and entering new markets, which has led to the strong rate of growth Flame has achieved in less than seven years.

“Hopefully we will be celebrating further success come April!”
