Huws Gray strengthens its presence in Wrexham

Huws Gray has completed the purchase of Minera Building Supplies, the second acquisition in as many months for the Anglesey-headquartered builders’ merchant following the acquisition of R W Almond Builders Merchants in September.

The deal includes the purchase of Minera Building Supplies’ ready-mixed operations and sees Huws Gray opening its third site in the Wrexham area, further strengthening its presence in North Wales.

Director Dewi Morris said: “As a company, we are always looking for opportunities to extend our branch network and firmly believe that Minera Building Supplies is a perfect fit for us in terms of location and growth potential. Bringing Minera on board, alongside our existing locations in Rhostyllen and our brick distribution in Llay, significantly strengthens our presence in the Wrexham and Chester area.

“We want to continue to build on the fantastic work the Rennie family have done here at Minera over the last 35 years. And we’re looking forward to working with the existing team to develop the site.”

Derek Rennie from Minera Building Supplies commented: “We’re proud of what we’ve built here in Minera, we’re a family-owned business specialising in serving the local people of Minera and beyond with quality building materials. We’re so pleased to be leaving the business in such good hands. Huws Gray is such a forward-thinking, progressive and values-driven company, we believe that this is the start of an exciting new chapter for Minera Building Supplies.”

Terry Owen, MD of Huws Gray, added: “We’d like to thank Derek and Josephine at Minera for their cooperation and for the positive reception we’ve received as a company. We’re extremely delighted with the recent acquisitions in Wrexham and Formby; there are exciting times ahead for all of us involved with the company.”
