Investment aplenty from Ridgeons

Ridgeons has recently invested in a new timber warehouse, as well as opening a new showroom at its Cambridge North branch.

Newmarket timber warehouse
Ridgeons’ branch in Newmarket, Suffolk is to build a new timber storage facility costing £100,000. The major investment will make the branch the only timber and builders’ merchants in and around Newmarket to offer a display house containing treated carcassing, according to the company.

Construction of the storage facility will begin in April and open in the summer. With this addition to the branch, Newmarket will be able to stock a wider range of carcassing, and the undercover protection will reduce weathering, ensuring a high quality product.

Karli Millard, Branch Manager, said: “We are making this investment as a result of feedback from our customers. As an independent, customer-focused timber and builders’ merchant, we respond to the changing requirements in the local market. We look forward to introducing both existing and new customers to the new timber facility in a few months’ time.”

In addition to the new timber storage, the branch is currently improving the bathroom and kitchen showroom, with the addition of premium brand Masterclass Kitchens alongside other products from Milano and Symphony. A further upgrade at the branch will be an extended landscape and gardening range, launching in April.

To celebrate these enhancements, the branch will be holding a range of activities for customers between Monday 26th February and Friday 2nd March, including special deals, a raffle to win a Fein Multi-Talent Tool, a Guess the Weight of the Easter Egg competition and free hot cross buns.

Alongside these changes, the branch continues to support local community projects, including the recent BBC DIY SOS project in Mildenhall and donations of gardening materials to Houldsworth Valley Primary School. Also, local radio station, Zack FM, is also benefitting from building materials donated by Ridgeons Newmarket, which will be used for the construction of its new studio.

Cambridge North showroom
Ridgeons has also recently opened a new showroom at its Cambridge North branch in Nuffield Road, Cambridge. The £150,000 investment is part of a wider programme of renovation and expansion at the branch.

The showroom, Ridgeons’ largest in Cambridge, comprises 10 kitchens and 23 bathrooms by Symphony and Masterclass Kitchens. Features include a bespoke display wall from sanitary ware and shower supplier, Grohe – it is the brand’s only display wall in the UK.

Some of the Masterclass Kitchens’ products on display cannot be found elsewhere in the country – says the team. Products from Neff, Bosh, SMEG, Roper Rhodes, Utopia, Heritage and Ridgeons’ own brand, Instinct, are also available. The latest in design is also used in the showroom, such as mobile phone charging spots embedded in kitchen worktops.

Branch Manager, Mark Johnson, said: “We are delighted with the showroom, which is already attracting positive customer feedback. We are confident that tradespeople will bring their own customers in, knowing that they will be fully supported by our trained showroom staff. For instance, our team uses 3D design software to help people plan bathrooms and kitchens. It’s such expertise and our bespoke approach to customer service that sets us apart from high street retailers.”

The branch has also recently added dedicated Anglia Tool Centre and PlumbStock trade counters and, Ridgeons’ tool hire partner, GR8, has also opened onsite. On top of this, Cambridge North has extended its range of building materials, added a new decorating centre and expanded warehouse space.

When Cromwell Road closes in late March, the branch will be Ridgeons’ largest in the city and the Cambridge delivery service will be centralised at the site.

Mark added: “The branch’s £400,000 revamp is part of the changes to Ridgeons in Cambridge, which aim to modernise the business’ offering, and provide a more efficient and easier customer journey.”

Ridgeons’ new Cambridge flagship branch in Norman Way will open on 3 April.
