Triple ISO accreditation for NMBS

Triple ISO accreditation for NMBS

Demonstrating its quality-focused approach, NMBS has successfully retained three different ISO accreditations.

The buying society, which strives for excellence across all areas of its operations, has recently been re-awarded ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 1800 following third party audits conducted by independent assessors, QMS International.

Arguably the world’s most recognised quality management system, ISO 9001 helps organisations to increase efficiency, to deliver consistently high levels of service and to continually improve their operational performance. To achieve accreditation, organisations must demonstrate robust systems and procedures covering a range of activities – from staff training and employee communication to document management and process improvement.

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised environmental management system which was first introduced in 1996. It provides organisations with a framework to manage the immediate and long-term environmental impact of their products, services and processes.

In order to secure ISO 14001 accreditation, NMBS had to provide evidence of a sustainable approach covering areas such as energy consumption, resource utilisation and waste management.

OHSAS 18001 is a globally recognised occupational health and safety management system which helps organisations to identify and control health and safety risks. Accreditation under this scheme serves as independent verification of an organisation’s commitment to reducing accidents, to complying with relevant legislation and to continually improving their overall health and safety performance.

Speaking of the triple accreditation, Chris Hayward, Managing Director at NMBS, said: “NMBS is delighted to have maintained our accreditation under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

“All three accreditations highlight our belief in continuous improvement and to operating to the highest standards in areas as diverse as health and safety and environmental management.”
