BMF welcomes new members

The latest company to join the Builders Merchants Federation, Independent Slate Supplies (ISS), will also host the BMF’s first Regional Training Centre – a mini Regional Centre of Excellence that will afford meeting and training space for smaller, local groups.  This reflects the federation’s localisation strategy to develop ways to engage with members closer to their home base and reduce the amount of time staff members need to take away from the business to attend.

With their HQ in Saltash, Cornwall, ISS specialise in the import and distribution of natural slate for roofing, sills and flooring.  Established for over 35 years, and with two further depots in Scotland and Wales providing nationwide coverage, the company has stock levels of 4-5 million slates at any one time. The purchasing power this provides guarantees the end user both quality products and value for money.  ISS operates a strict merchant policy with all sales fed through its network of roofing and builders merchants who are supported by its national sales team.

Neil Kinger, Operations Director at ISS is keen to see the new BMF Regional Training Centre well used.  He said: “In looking to further our growth by supporting and developing new relationships with merchants across the UK, we can think of no better way than by engaging with fellow BMF members.  We are looking forward to meeting new and existing customers at future BMF events.”

Welcoming ISS to the BMF, Richard Jones, Regional Manager said: “It’s great to see such a well-known supplier based here in the South West joining the BMF and immediately getting involved.  I am looking forward to utilising the impressive facilities that ISS has created at its Head Office as our first BMF Regional Training Centre.  This is an ideal location for members from south Devon and Cornwall to use for BMF Training Courses in the future.”

Said to be one of the fastest growing fintech companies in Europe, Paymentsense has also joined the BMF. The company is said to help over 70,000 businesses in UK and Ireland with card machines and e-commerce solutions, handling over £10 billion worth of sales a year. It has over 240 employees in their offices in London, Hull and Belfast.

Kathleen Snell, Partnership Development Manager at Paymentsense says: “The company is proud to support the Builders Merchants Federation and the valuable work it does for its members. We want to provide reliable card payment solutions that reduce costs and bring added convenience for its members who can then concentrate on their work to build excellence.”

BMF Chief Executive, John Newcomb says: “We are delighted that Paymentsense has joined the BMF and appreciates the value of being part of a strong trade body. We are looking forward to working with this growing company.”
