Bradfords raises thousands for charity

Bradfords Building Supplies has announced it has raised over £51,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support over the last two years.

Since 2017 staff, suppliers and customers from the Head Office and branches across the South West have held events and completed challenges big and small to raise as much money as possible for people affected by cancer.  Chief Executive, David Young, kick started the fundraising with a head shave at Head Office in April 2017, raising over £2000.

Bradfords’ employees, suppliers and customers then went on to organise car washes, duck races, hiking challenges, quiz nights and cycling events, plus many bacon butty and cake sales.

Genevieve Drinkwater, Senior Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We are thrilled to receive this magnificent sum which will make such a difference to so many people living with cancer. It has been exciting working in partnership with Bradfords Building Supplies and I would like to say a massive thankyou to every single one of their branches that contributed to this total and to all the directors, staff and customers. Over 58,000 people are diagnosed with cancer across the South West every year and we want to be there to help everyone living with cancer to live life as fully as they can”.

David added: “Bradfords are delighted to have supported Macmillan in the last two years, it’s a charity that provides an invaluable service to its patients and their families. We have run several companywide fundraising events and some individuals have gone to great lengths to support the charity through sponsored treks and bike rides. I would like to thank all the customers, staff and suppliers that have supported us in raising this fantastic amount.”
