Harlow Bros announced as latest NMBS member

Harlow Bros, a family-owned business with more than 90 years’ experience in timber, sheet materials, engineered timber, windows, doors and worktops has joined the National Merchant Buying Society (NMBS).

Harlow Bros reportedly made the decision to join NMBS after seeing the benefits that belonging to the Buying Society afford them. Through NMBS, the merchant will have access to instant agreements with more than 600 varied suppliers, all of which will allow the business to compete directly with its national plc counterparts.

The merchant has seven branches situated in Nottingham, Hinckley, Derby, Leicester, Coalville, Long Whatton, and Burton On Trent. It offers a complete timber service, catering for the needs of trade and retail customers from large national housebuilders, through to sole traders and the DIY market.

Services include in-house milling and machining facilities, alongside its own Poultry House manufacturing business and a dedicated fleet of delivery vehicles ranging from crane off-load to specialist roof-truss trailers.

Harlow Bros’ Purchasing Manager, Peter Gains, said: “We are very pleased to have joined NMBS and hope our membership will allow us to increase our product awareness and product knowledge from within NMBS’ existing supply chain. Likewise, we also want to offer our own products to potential new customers. Instant access to NMBS suppliers also means that, when we find a new product that we wish to stock, we can access it quickly without all the administrative requirements that can often delay bringing a new product to our customers.”

Dean Hayward, Sales and Marketing Manager at NMBS, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Harlow Bros as the latest independent merchant to join NMBS. They are an experienced, long-standing and very well-respected business, and have recognised the benefits that joining NMBS can bring to independent merchants of all sizes. We are looking forward to working with them to help develop their business even further.”
