Howarth donation helps build new clubhouse for semi-pro team

Semi-professional football team, Selby Town FC, has welcomed a donation of materials from Howarth Timber & Building Supplies to help it build a brand-new clubhouse.

A range of building materials has been donated by Howarth’s York branch and the leading builder’s merchant will sponsor the club for the forthcoming 2020/21 season. Materials donated included: piping and pipe insulation, valves and concentrated inhibitor.

Selby Town FC celebrated its 100th year in 2019 and the community football club is currently gearing up for the next season following postponement of the league due to COVID-19.

Club Manager, Christian Fox, commented: “We’re enormously grateful for the sponsorship and donation of building materials from Howarth Timber & Building Supplies. A new clubhouse is long overdue and this support will allow us to have something we can be really proud of.

“The team is raring to go and we can’t wait to get back playing football again. Thank you to all of the businesses and supporters who have helped us throughout this tough time.”

Rich Winstanley, Assistant Branch Manager for Howarth Timber & Building Supplies York, added: “We are proud to be supporting Selby Town FC and know the team is an important part of the local community.

“We wanted to do our bit to help the club build what is a vital facility for the players, families and of course the community and will be really pleased to see it in action when it’s up and running – especially on those cold Yorkshire weekend fixtures!”
