Howarth Timber relaunches stores

Howarth Timber and Building Supplies is continuing its programme of investment with a new, larger store in Tottenham and a full refurbishment at its Derby branch.

Howarth is hosting a three-day event in celebration of its Derby branch reopening, complete with leading suppliers, offers and competitions.

In Tottenham, the store had outgrown its original premises, and now occupies a larger space on the Elmlea Trading Estate on Leeside Road. Howarth Timber invested over £150,000 in the branch to create an improved shopping experience for customers and better working environment for staff.

The new store spans two floors, and has space for more than 500 additional products, with the second floor now home to Howarth Timber’s new doors and flooring ranges.

Peter Rees, Manager at Howarth Timber’s Tottenham branch, said: “We had outgrown our old premises, and moving to a new location gave us the opportunity to create an improved environment for both customers and staff.

“We hosted a two-day launch event with giveaways and appearances from suppliers, which was a big success, and I’m looking forward to welcoming more customers to the new and improved store.”

Howarth Timber’s Derby branch, which is located in Pentagon Island Timber Yard on 12 Old Nottingham Road, has also been modernised to allow a better buying experience for both trade customers and the public.

The new layout has been designed to take customers from the start to finish of their house build – from the building and renovation stages, to looking at fixtures such as doors and doorknobs, all the way through to kitchens.

To reflect the fact that the general public is welcome to browse alongside trade customers, Howarth Timber has moved away from looking like a traditional builder’s merchant and has extended its range of timber, decking and grass with new display areas for the products outside of the store.

The reopening was marked with a three-day event, which included cookery demonstrations from Chef Hari Ghotra and an appearance from Olympic Swimmer Ross Davenport.

Talsa Middleton, Derby Branch Manager said: “All of us here at the all new Derby branch are looking forward to welcoming both new and returning customers. We’ve completely overhauled the shop, which allows us an even wider product range and greater choice for our customers.”
