NMBS sets dates for 2022 Conference

NMBS has announced the new dates for its All-Industry Conference, after this year’s event was postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The next NMBS All-Industry Conference will now take place on 16th to 19th June 2022, and will be held at the same venue – the Hilton Sorrento Palace Hotel in Sorrento, Italy.

Chris Hayward, Managing Director of NMBS, said: “The NMBS team always look forward to this event and we were really excited to be running and hosting the prestigious 2020 industry event in Sorrento. However, the safety and wellbeing of Merchant delegates, Sponsors and colleagues will always come first, which is why we made the decision to postpone the event in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Despite this disappointment, we are now delighted to announce that we have agreed with the hotel to reschedule the Conference for 16th to 19th June 2022. Committing to our booking for 2022 shows our support for this great location and country. When we all emerge from this current situation, we are confident that Sorrento will be a great place to host the NMBS All-Industry Conference.”

The NMBS is already working on plans to make the 2022 Conference bigger and better than ever before. With the Host and speakers who had already been announced for this year’s event agreeing to attend the 2022 event, delegates in Sorrento will be able to enjoy topical presentations from a wide range of experts.

Broadcaster David Meade will be hosting the Conference following his inspiring attendance at the 2018 NMBS Conference as a keynote speaker, while Sophie Devonshire, Chief Executive Officer of The Caffeine Partnership, is an experienced business leader, entrepreneur and brand specialist who can offer real insight into the area of Change Management.

From the world of sport, table tennis champion Matthew Syed will offer advice on how the mind responds to stressful conditions, with a speech about the psychology of performance and continuous improvement.

Also speaking at the Conference will be Professor Damian Hughes. He will combine his practical and academic background within sport, organisation and change psychology to identify values, behaviours and techniques that are transferable to the world of business. These strongly feature in the Liquid Thinking approach he uses to benefit the organisations that he works with.

As well as these previously announced speakers, more speakers will be announced nearer the time, as well as new social activities for guests to enjoy alongside the business sessions.

The headline sponsor for the 2022 event will be Makita which, like many other Sponsors, has decided to roll its 2020 Sponsorship over to the next NMBS Conference.

Key sponsors who will be joining NMBS at the 2022 Conference include Dickies, HiKOKI, Polypipe, Knauf Insulation, Marshalls, Marsh Industries and Worcester Bosch.

Chris added: “We would also like to give our heartfelt thanks to all those Sponsors who have committed to carry their sponsorship over to the 2022 event. The majority of our Sponsors chose to do so, which we believe shows just how important and valued the All-Industry Conference is as a key industry event.

“Our thanks also go to all those Merchant delegates who have made the same decision and carried their previous booking over to 2022. We can’t wait to welcome you all to the beautiful surroundings of Sorrento for the rescheduled Conference, which we will work hard to make sure is the best one yet.”
