From the pages of PBM’s October edition, we take a look at the latest new products and services from leading industry suppliers.

Black designer radiators
Described as “elegant and sophisticated”, and building on the growing trend for monochrome, Vasco’s range of black designer radiators are now available in the UK. Suitable for use in living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms, and becoming something of a statement item, Vasco’s range includes the slimline Oni, along with the Niva, Aster, Zana, Carré, Tulipa and Viola (pictured).

Also available is a matching valve set in jet black (RAL 9005).

When it comes to targeted gripping and working on small and very small workpieces and components, hand tools must be able to grip even more precisely and delicately than classic gripping tools generally allow.

The expanded range of KNIPEX tweezers includes a large number of high-precision tools for detailed work. Precisely manufactured, symmetrical tips and a wide variety of designs with different gripping surfaces, handles and angled heads mean that the tweezers can be used in many application areas for the highest demands.

Dowsil 896
As showcased at this year’s RCI Show in September, Sherwin Williams has highlighted DOWSIL 896 PanelFix, an elastic silicone adhesive specifically designed for panel bonding applications on a wide range of substrates. Said to offer immediate strength directly after application, the silicone possesses ultraviolet, temperature and weather-resistant qualities which the brand says make it ideal for high durability jobs.

Also on display was the DuPont Froth-Pak Foam Insulation system — a two-part polyurethane foam spray kit designed to fill cavities and gaps. Suitable for both internal and external environments, the foam can be trimmed, cut, sanded, painted or plastered over in just two minutes on almost any construction surface.

Starlock Blades
The multi-tool blade specialist has announced the release of its new UK made Starlock range. The new line-up includes “the same great blades from the existing range now made in the UK” in addition to three Starlock-compatible versions of the most popular blades from its universal open-back fitment Trade Series. This includes the Rapid Wood Blade, available in 32mm and 63mm.

Also included is the 90mm Diamond segment blade, which is the first SMART Starlock grout removal option, alongside Starlock-compatible versions of the “extremely popular” Sanding Kit and 35mm Metal Buster blade.

Grant UK
QR Cylinder range
The Grant QR (Quick Recovery) Cylinder range has been designed to provide customers with a universal solution for their hot water storage needs, partnering with both traditional and renewable heating systems. A new range of 14 cylinder models will be available, offering ‘universal compatibility’ to make product selection simple and straightforward — indeed, the company notes that for merchants in particular, one QR cylinder can be specified and sold to suit multiple installations making stocking much easier and more streamlined.

Available in sizes from 150 up to 300 litres, the new cylinders comprise of single and twin coil variants as well as pre-plumbed and slimline models to provide clear choice for installers when it comes to specification.

West Fraser
Indicative of its popularity with the trade, West Fraser’s CaberDek flooring has been endorsed by KRM Carpentry from Gillingham, Kent whether the company is working on a new build, an entire refurbishment project, or an extension or loft conversion.

Owner of the firm, Kai, said: “We undertake various jobs in the Kent area and always use CaberDek. We fix the boards with CaberFix D4 as it gives a good bond and creates a water-tight seal between the panels. The boards are really hardwearing and it’s good to leave the protective film on until the end of the job so we leave the build with a nice clean floor.”

Rebar Tying Tool
Designed to deal with a variety of fastening requirements — from tying rebar together and fastening conduit to rebar, to fastening PVC pipes to reinforced concrete steel and fastening underfloor heating hoses to steel — Senco’s SRT40 Rebar Tier is said to provide a highly reliable method of ensuring that reinforced structures have a firm mesh grid in place.

Brushless motors ensure faster and efficient tying, with a sealed gearbox giving extra power, attaining an impressive 0.6 – 0.8 seconds per tie. Between 4000 – 5000 tight and uniform ties are achieved per charge thanks to the two supplied 18V 4 Ah Lithium Ion slide in batteries and charger, meaning that work can continue uninterrupted, whilst a handy LCD screen allows for wire tension adjustment.

Conex Bänninger
Inox press-fit range
Conex Bänninger has extended its Inox fittings range, adding an <A> Press Inox single press option that is available in 316L stainless steel in sizes from 15 to 54mm. WRAS approved, the fittings are suitable for a variety of commercial and industrial applications, including drinking water, heating and cooling installations, and rainwater harvesting.

The new 316L fitting is a low carbon version of the standard 316 grade, whilst the <A> Press products are pressed using ‘M’ profile jaws and carry a 25-year warranty when installed to manufacturer’s guidelines.

Among a series of new product launches, Makita has added two 12Vmax CXT multi-line lasers to its extensive range of site equipment. The multi-line lasers project one horizontal and two vertical 360° lines and include a precise self-levelling feature to enable simple setup, layout and alignment.

The 12Vmax CXT Red Multi-Line Laser (SK700DZ) and 12Vmax CXT Green Multi-Line Laser (SK700GDZ) are described as versatile and durable, with a range of features to make work on site as simple as possible. The Red Multi-Line Laser has a range of 25 metres in each direction (50 m diameter) while the green lasers of the SK700GDZ provide an increased range of 35m (70m diameter) and better line visibility in brighter conditions.
