Brett Martin

Cascade for Dorset Abbey transformation

Striking the balance between cost effectiveness, performance and aesthetic appeal Brett Martin’s Cascade cast iron style rainwater system has been used in the transformation of a nineteenth century Grade II listed abbey into 47 two- to five-bedroom luxury homes.

The Cascade Deepstyle gutter system is characterised by an easy fix clip system, which facilitates simple installation, whilst external fixing lugs allow easy access for cordless power tools. Said to be significantly lighter than cast iron rainwater systems, the system is much quicker, easier and safer to fit at height, helping to offer the developer savings in terms of on-site installation costs.

Langlow Strip Away LV

When it came to sensitively stripping away decades of paint as part of a £7.5m restoration of the historic Seaton Delaval Hall, Langlow Strip Away LV was used to uncover the walls of the west wing.

Strip Away LV is a non-corrosive environmentally safer paint remover which does not contain methylene chloride or caustic and will not damage the integrity and appearance of the surface beneath the existing layers of old paint. Here, the contractor used Strip Away LV as it is on the National Trust’s list of stipulated products to be used in helping to protect and restore its historic and often fragile sites.

Recticel Insulation

Deck VQ

When the Courtyard Centre for the Arts in Herefordshire’s extension precluded the use of upstands as part of a roof terrace installation, Recticel Insulation’s Deck VQ was chosen to provide a slim insulation solution which prevented instances of cold bridging to ensure the application met the regulatory U-value

The ultra-thin vacuum insulation panel (VIP), has a lambda value of the core of 0.006 W/mK, providing an insulation solution that optimised the adjoining building’s windowed element in terms of the amount of light it allowed, whilst ensuring the roof itself achieved the regulatory U-value.
