TTF advises on wood storage

Reaping full value from merchants’ investments in timber stocks means making sure goods are stored properly in times of slower-than-average business or temporary shutdowns.

The Timber Trade Federation and its members has issued advice for merchants on storage and handling of many types of merchant timber products, from carcassing and roof trusses through to sheet materials, mouldings, flooring and decking.

The advice comes in two forms. As part of its partnership with the NMBS, the TTF has issued a special edition of its monthly Timber Topics on storing wood products, available here. Additionally, more detailed advice from a range of specific product suppliers has been published in a news article here.

The Timber Trade Federation has also produced its first quarterly magazine for builders’ merchants under its partnership with the NMBS. Good Wood Business magazine’s first issue for April/May is now available online on the TTF website here.

TTF has also re-organised its online merchant resources and free training materials to help the industry’s builders merchant customers at this difficult time for the timber supply chain. Click on the Merchants tab on arrival at ttf.co.uk to explore the advice, training and guidance.
