Graham celebrates success of apprentice

Graham Plumbers Merchant has announced that Ellie Wilding is the latest apprentice to finish her course and has now been taken on full time by the company.

In addition to completing the apprenticeship in excellent time, Ellie also came second in Graham’s Local Hero award and Intec’s national Apprentice of the Year awards.

Recruited through Intec Business College in November 2017 Ellie Wilding undertook 26 courses during the placement with Graham’s Driffield branch, as well as all aspects of merchant training.

Learning from her peers in the branch, Ellie has been trained in customer service, stock taking and review, following up with customers via the phone system, and standard branch protocol such as keeping it tidy and ensuring all relevant marketing materials are correctly displayed.

Branch Manager, Graeme Holmes, commented: “Ellie has taken to the scheme like a duck to water. While most apprentices take the full year to complete the college course as well as branch training, Ellie completed everything in just over six months.

“Ourselves and Intec were so impressed by her performance, which was monitored monthly, that Intec submitted her for its national Apprentice of the Year award, and I submitted her for our Local Hero award in January. We were delighted to see how quickly Ellie completed her courses, truly showcasing how hard she has worked.”

On her apprenticeship, Ellie said: “I was allowed to choose the courses and areas that would benefit me the most whilst working and as I knew what was going to suit my learning, I was able to finish it quickly.

“Now that I’ve completed the apprenticeship, I can go onto other areas with Intec, such as managerial courses, health and safety, and much more during my employment with Graham Plumbers’ Merchant. The apprenticeship has gone so well, and I’m very happy that I was nominated. I look forward to progressing my career with Graham.”
