Hyster details the “real cost of owning a 2.5t forklift”

A new infographic from Hyster sets out to explain the real cost of owning a 2.5t capacity forklift, wherever you are in the supply chain.

“Not all forklifts are the same,” explains Matthew Allen, Solutions Manager Counterbalanced Product, Hyster Europe. “To get the lowest operating cost for a forklift you should choose the right truck for the application.”

In the popular 2.5t lift capacity range, there are hundreds of different models available on the market with varying purchase prices. “To get the best value and performance, buyers must look at lifetime costs over a three to five year period in relation to their specific operation,” says Matthew. “Hours, ramps, continuous lifting at capacity, heat, dust and many other factors all affect the cost of ownership of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) forklift trucks.”

It can be difficult to spot the difference between two trucks, as Hyster demonstrates with its standard and advanced models. The Hyster H2.5CT and H2.5FT models look almost identical in the distinctive yellow, but have very different purchase price tags, which reflect the technologies under the hood.

“A standard duty truck like the H2.5CT has a basic powertrain, limited features and fit for purpose components such as drum brakes,” Matthew reveals. “For more demanding applications, an advanced truck like the H2.5FT is better suited, with an advanced powertrain and electronically controlled features, reduced tyre wear, maintenance free oil immersed brakes, increased driver productivity and components designed for tougher work.

“Our job is to provide the right truck to give the best performance, value, productivity and reliability in all applications,” he confirms.
