New Milton Sand and Ballast was set to open a new builders’ merchant branch in Poole on Thursday 6th January, with a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Scott ‘Scotty Dog’ Mitchell, Lakeside World Darts Champion and PDC Tour Card Holder 2021-22.
The second builders’ merchant from the New Milton-based family-owned company, activities on the day included a variety of games, including a darts competition, with the chance to compete against Scott Mitchell, the darts pro and local farmer. Across the opening week, a variety of promotions and discounts were on offer to give local trades the opportunity to save on a wide range of products, from building equipment to garden supplies.
The new branch marks part of NMSB’s expansion in the local area. The independent business, which also has a builders’ merchant branch in New Milton, has over 85 years’ experience in supplying quality aggregates, concrete, building materials and waste services across Dorset and Hampshire. The company operates three quarries, five depots and one recycling centre, supporting thousands of customers across the south of England.
Sales Director Matt Lock said: “We are pleased to be opening a new branch in Poole. Builders’ merchants are a natural extension of our business as unlike many of our competitors, we don’t need to fully rely on third parties. From operating sand and gravel quarries, to producing our own concrete and offering waste services, we can give our customers an ‘end to end’ service. As a result, many local tradespeople will enjoy lower cost goods – with far less risk of shortage when sourcing stock.”
The new store will also offer a drive-through option, along with under cover timber storage, loose load delivery and skip hire. The product selection will range from building materials, equipment and supplies, garden and landscaping and tools and timber.
