IBC ‘Ride for Youth’ raises £30,000

The Construction Industry Ride for Youth campaign, organised by IBC Buying Group, has raised £30,000 to support two amazing youth charities.

Taking place over 10 days in May, the event saw a team from IBC Buying Group and across the construction industry cycle 1,000 miles – the length of the UK from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The team was raising money for two wonderful youth charities – Unitas Youth Zone and the Maddie Rose campaign.

Thanks to the “incredible generosity of the merchant industry and our supplier partners,” IBC says the original £15,000 target was smashed within days of the team setting off. Accordingly, the team decided to double the target to £30,000 and the buying group is delighted to announce that goal has now been reached.

The money raised will be split between both charities, helping them to continue their vital work supporting young people and helping them grow and find worthwhile careers.

Carol Lynch, CEO of the Construction Youth Trust, which runs the Maddie Rose Campaign, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as IBC Buying Group’s charity partner and are so impressed by what they have achieved. A huge congratulations to the team for completing their Ride for Youth.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been involved in your fundraising. The incredible amount raised will make such a difference in helping us support underrepresented young people access meaningful careers in the construction and built environment sector.”

Robin Moss, Chief Executive of Unitas, added: “IBC Buying Group’s amazing bike ride has raised thousands of pounds for Unitas Youth Zone. Our youth centre, the largest provider of youth work in North London, is full of young people every day and on behalf of all of them I am so grateful to the whole Ride For Youth team.”

Dave Robertson, Managing Director of IBC Buying Group (pictured below), organised the charity event and led the team across the UK. He said: “I am incredibly proud to have been able to support Unitas and the Maddie Rose Campaign in this way, and so very grateful to everyone who donated.

“Cycling 1,000 miles was one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever done, but being able to do it surrounded by industry friends made it an inspiring experience. The fact that we have been able to raise £30,000 which will now help young people fulfil their potential makes it even better.”
