Showersave launches upgraded waste water heat recovery system

Showersave has unveiled its latest waste water heat recovery system “to help merchants offer contractors and installers a high-performance solution for improving energy efficiency.”

The latest innovation – the Showersave QB1-21XE – is said to build on the success of its predecessor, the QB1-21, and is designed to deliver maximum energy savings, compliance with building regulations and ease of installation – all key selling points for merchants and trade customers across the UK. Developed “to make the biggest impact on hot water energy savings for showers,” the new model is described as an affordable and effective solution for stocking in trade counters, helping installers meet energy standards and future-proofing homes to comply with the upcoming Future Homes Standard (FHS).

Indeed, with its “superior efficiency,” the new system enables merchants to offer their customers a reliable way to reduce energy consumption and lower homeowners’ utility bills, while simultaneously supporting compliance with the UK’s energy-saving targets (see panel).

Showersave has already been installed in over 140,000 homes across the UK and Europe, gaining popularity among contractors, plumbers, and builders. The QB1-21XE can be used in residential and commercial developments, and even supports BREEAM requirements for sustainability in commercial projects.

Tony Gordon, Showersave’s Managing Director, commented: “Our goal is always to improve outcomes for merchants and trade customers, ensuring compliance with building regulations, while reducing energy consumption and costs. The new QB1-21XE delivers on all these fronts – improved performance, easier installation, and no increase in price.

“As well as helping contractors meet compliance targets, the Showersave QB1-21XE offers homeowners long-term savings. It is maintenance free and has a proven track record of durability and reliability. Over its lifetime, a single Showersave unit can save a household up to 10 tonnes of carbon and hundreds of pounds in energy costs annually.”

Why should merchants offer the Showersave QB1-21XE?

Superior efficiency in SAP: The QB1-21XE has undergone rigorous testing and is recognised for its high performance in the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP). It delivers a maximum efficiency of 70.6% at 8l/min, making it one of the most efficient WWHRS units on the market – a major advantage for installers and a strong selling point for merchants.

Easy installation for trade customers: One of the key innovations of the QB1-21XE is its new Cyclone Connector, which eliminates the need for multiple fittings. This design enhancement simplifies the installation process, reducing time and complexity for installers, a major advantage for merchants when recommending it to trade customers.

No price increase, improved quality: Despite the advancements in performance and design, Showersave has ensured there is no price increase with the QB1-21XE. Merchants can offer a high-quality, competitively priced product to their customers, making it a reliable and cost-effective solution for projects without impacting on budgets.

Showersave is described as being a leading UK innovator and distributor of energy recovery systems, specialising in affordable, simple-to-install solutions for both residential and commercial projects. First developed in the Netherlands in 2005, the company introduced its waste water heat recovery technology to the UK market in 2009, reportedly becoming the first company to bring this highly efficient system to British homes.

Recognised by the Buildings Research Establishment (BRE) in SAP, Showersave is said to offer a proven, cost-effective way for housebuilders and developers to meet energy efficiency regulations.

Last year, Showersave came under the umbrella of the Keystone Group.
