Stressline recently took delivery of a new steel shear at its Leicestershire site – an investment that will double its steel lintel output as well as increase the range of products it manufactures.
The new shear is a 6m Safan Darley M shear that has been customised for Stressline to a bespoke specification. It was put in place immediately and training for the staff began the next day.
Approximately 26% of the company’s lintels sales in 2016 have been steel (the rest being pre-stressed concrete). The new shear, coupled with increased yard space means that Stressline will be building a larger steel lintel stock profile to better service their merchant customers.
Chris Fox, Managing Director at Stressline, explains why the business sought out the new shear: “With demand for our 4m and longer steel lintel products increasing, the sales and production teams determined the replacement of our 4m shear for a longer shear was viable. Safan Darley make a fantastic product which will improve our workflow efficiency and manufacturing capability”
One of the main advantages of the new shear will be its capacity to cut longer lengths of steel, and thus allow the firm to manufacture steel lintels to lengths of up to 5100mm.
Stressline’s new lintel guide details the full range of steel lintel products that it manufactures and sells including standard cavity, wide inner leaf, wide outer leaf, short outer leaf, closed eaves lintels and timber frame lintels.
