MKM Building Supplies has announced it has launched two new branches which will take its total number of stores to 58.
The ribbon has officially been cut on two new locations which are over 375 miles apart, in Kilmarnock and Milton Keynes. The Kilmarnock branch becomes MKM’s fifth in Scotland, with Milton Keynes the third in South East England. The duo brings a total of 35 jobs, 15 in Kilmarnock and 20 in Milton Keynes.
MKM attributes its growth to its business model which gives Branch Directors a stake in their branches. This, coupled with a focus on customer service experience, has reportedly allowed MKM to expand into relatively uncharted territory.
Last year, MKM celebrated the opening of its 50th branch, with MKM growing steadily since it was founded in 1995 by Executive Chairman, David Kilburn. With the help of a strategic growth plan, MKM has the medium-long term target of 100 branches by 2022.
Both MKM Kilmarnock and Milton Keynes aim to be one-stop building supplies shops, with product portfolios spanning supplies, heating, landscaping, timber, and more. Each branch will feature kitchen and bathroom showrooms, staffed by dedicated designers.
David commented: “Congratulations to everyone at Kilmarnock and Milton Keynes. Although we’re now 58-strong, each new branch launch is still as special the last; as a Hull-founded company, we’re proud to be expanding further into Scotland and the South East.”
Colin Eggo, Branch Director at MKM Kilmarnock, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to be cutting the ribbon on our new branch in Kilmarnock. Myself and Matt have spent the last few months assembling a fantastic team – a team of experienced, local people who understand the needs of those they’ll be serving.”
