Fireshield FD30S
After successfully securing BS EN 1634 certification, Bowater by Birtley has introduced a new FireShield FD30S fire door. The door is manufactured using a sustainable agrifiber core, a material recognised as a green product that can contribute to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits. A solid timber frame and durable GRP facing completes the construction of the door, making it one of only a handful on the market to offer a FD30S certified door to this standard. It is available in a wide range of colours and a solid six panel, long panel or flush design and the doorsets are fitted with Yale hardware.

Dometec
Adding to its portfolio, Xtralite has added a range of rooflights in a bid to support growing demand in a wide range of commercial installations. Dometec is a polycarbonate, duo-skinned rooflight which is said to achieve unrivalled levels of light transmission and diffusion as well as double the sound reduction when compared with a triple skin polycarbonate rooflight. The product has an EU patent pending and supports the requirements of Part L Building Regulations. It achieves TPa Class 1 BS 476 fire and can be deemed Class 0, with its core material also being non-combustable.
Abloy UK
EL495 and EL595
Said to be the world’s first intelligent motor lock, Abloy UK has announced the launch of the EL495 and EL595, which have been developed to make facilities and sites more safe and secure. The locks can automatically diagnose the condition of its capacitors, so, when the lock reaches the end of its lifecycle, it gives an audible warning allowing the lock to be replaced before it fails. Both solutions are compliant to British Standards – EL495 is BS EN179 and BS EN1125 approved, and the EL595 is BS EN179 approved. There are three variants of the EL495 and EL595 available, including a Fail Unlocked (FU) model, Fail Locked model (FL) and high security lock case with mechanical exit feature.

Better Vintage
A new housing development in a prestigious residential area in Sutton Coldfield features a number of Dakea Better Vintage roof windows. A total of 25 Better Vintage KCV C4A centre pivot conservation roof windows were installed across the development along with Dakea KUF C4A Vintage Flashing. Said to be ideal for heritage areas and renovation projects, the KCV is made of kiln-dried laminated pine wood, from FSC certified forests, with a black lacquer external profile and glazing bar. The Dakea Better Vintage is described as being suitable for all roofing systems with a pitch of 15-90° with flashing.
