Race Team Manager, ACO Technologies’ F1-themed competition, is once again taking to the starting grid in 2018 — this time with some new elements to take the competitiveness up a gear. What’s more, the team crowned Race Team Manager champions will walk away with VIP tickets to the 2019 British Grand Prix, or a £2,000 cash prize.
The competition, now in its third year, sees teams tested on a variety of F1-themed topics, ranging from general knowledge of F1, through to tyre strategies and race predictions. Ahead of each race weekend, teams are encouraged to work together and pool their knowledge to give themselves the best chance of ending the competition on top of the standings. Entrants can also compete in a series of individual ‘driver’ challenges throughout the six-race competition window, to win a variety of regular prizes.
This year’s competition will run for a concentrated six-race period, starting with the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on the 2nd September. Teams will then complete a series of questions and predictions over the subsequent races, which include Grand Prix in Singapore, Russia, Japan and the USA, before culminating with the Mexico Grand Prix on the 28th October.
For the first time, the 2018 Race Team Manager competition will also be open to contractors from across the construction industry. As such merchants will not only be competing against their peers from rival branches and companies, but also — potentially — their own customers.
Following the completion of the Mexican GP, the six teams at the top of the standings, along with two wildcards, will then be invited to attend the 2018 Grand Final in late November. This will be held in the International Media Centre at the home of British motorsport, Silverstone, for the second year in a row.
Here, teams will accumulate points by completing a variety of F1-themed and business-related challenges over the course of the day, before racing it out to win the top prize of British GP tickets or £2,000 on a specially-made Carrera Slot Car circuit.
The competition also offers entrants the chance to compete as individuals on a weekly basis. Correctly guess the top three podium positions, as well as the first driver to pit, and you’ll be in with the chance of winning a weekly top prize of £100, or runners up prizes of £75 worth of F1-themed merchandise, or a Carrera Evolution Race Champs slot car track set worth £50.
Questions for the Italian Grand Prix will be open from 20th August, so teams are encouraged to register early to give themselves as much time as possible to answer.
ACO has a long history of supplying water management solutions to the motorsport market, having developed bespoke drainage systems for 11 Grand Prix circuits around the world, including iconic tracks such as Monza, the Nürburgring and the Circuit de Cataluña.
