Bradfords Building Supplies has expanded its support of regional sports by sponsoring the Cornish Pirates rugby team for the current season.
A Rugby Union Championship team, the Cornish Pirates train and play at the Mennave Field in Penzance, just yards from the builders’ merchant’s Penzance branch. The partnership also includes sponsorship of players Tommy Wyatt and Cory Teague, both of whom are dual-registered from the Exeter Chiefs this season. Bradfords will be Match Day Sponsors for the team’s game against Coventry on 30 October.
Speaking on behalf of the Cornish Pirates, CEO Rebecca Thomas said: “Bradfords has a large presence across the South West and are already supporting other prominent sporting Clubs in the region. It is great for the Cornish Pirates to be added to the list and to start this partnership with them.”
Paul Malloy, Head of Marketing at Bradfords Building Supplies, added: “We have a long history of supporting local communities wherever we operate, and we’re delighted to be in partnership with a team that’s at the forefront of rugby in Cornwall. We understand the influence that these clubs have in creating cohesion in communities and in encouraging young people from the local area into grassroots sport.”
A family-run business established in Somerset more than 250 years ago, Bradfords has over 40 branches across the South West, including Penzance, Helston, Redruth, Penryn, St Austell, Liskeard and Bude. The company’s support for regional sports also includes partnerships with Somerset County Cricket Club where it sponsors the Pathway Programme to help grow future talent, and the Exeter Chiefs rugby team, where it hosts the Bradfords Community Cup, a tag rugby festival for under-8s which sees over 800 children from the South-West participate each year.
