Nick Sims has been appointed Managing Director of St Albans-based Buttle plc, succeeding William Naylor who is retiring after three years in the post.
Nick has 30 years’ experience running multi-site sales & operational businesses within the Building Materials, Timber, Plumbing & Heating and Mechanical Services sectors. Most recently he was Managing Director of Ridgeons builders’ merchants in Cambridge.
Peter Buttle, Chairman of Buttle plc, said: “William joined us in early 2014 and has since steered the business back to a very sound base for future consolidation and growth. I would like to thank him for his contribution and am very pleased to announce that he has agreed to continue on the Board of Buttle plc as a non-executive director.
“We are delighted to welcome Nick, whose experience will be invaluable as our business continues to grow ahead of our centenary in 2019”
Founded in 1919 by the grandfather of the present Chairman Peter Buttle, Buttle’s operates from branches in St Albans, Enfield, Kentish Town and Leighton Buzzard. It also trades as PlumbersPal, a plumbers’ merchant.
In April 2017, the business was included in the Financial Times’ FT 1000: the 1000 companies in Europe that have achieved the highest percentage growth in revenues between 2012 and 2015.
