Colleagues and customers of City Plumbing and Plumbing Trade Supplies (PTS) have collectively fundraised a massive £2million for Teenage Cancer Trust.
From running and raft races to golf days and gala dinners, the teams took part in group and individual events across the country, culminating in the division-wide ‘Have your Cake and Eat It’ bake sale, which added more than £8,500 to the fundraising pot in just one day!
Andrew Harrison, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Plumbing and Heating Division at Travis Perkins, said: “We couldn’t be prouder to have worked in partnership with the Teenage Cancer Trust to reach this £2m milestone. It shows what fantastic things can be achieved when the colleagues and customers of City Plumbing and PTS work together.
“The collective funds raised over the past 7 years are potentially life changing for all the young people who have needed support from the charity. We’re humbled to have been able to help and plans are already in place to continue adding to the figure throughout the next year.”
Rachael Garrett is one of the volunteer charity champions who helped organise and co-ordinate the fundraising activities. She added: “I have personally been involved with the Teenage Cancer Trust partnership since the beginning in 2012. The six-year journey has been phenomenal. During that time so many people in our business have taken the time to raise money with a variety of events. I have personally organised charity golf days for the past six years raising in excess of £15,000 through supplier support and the generosity of our customers.
“I am so proud to have been a part of such a great partnership. The relationship between the City Plumbing, PTS and Teenage Cancer Trust is heart-warming; my visit to the Teenage Cancer Trust ward in Liverpool really bought it home to me the great work that the charity does and how the money raised is spent. Hitting the £2million is such an amazing accomplishment and I have seen first-hand what a difference it will make.”
The money raised will go towards providing help and support for young people with cancer across the UK. £2million is enough to maintain all of the Teenage Cancer Trusts hospital units for two years, including ongoing maintenance and repairs, or cover the cost of all of their expert nurses for almost 12 months.
Jess Coombs, Head of High Value Fundraising at Teenage Cancer Trust, added: “Our partnership with City Plumbing and PTS is remarkable. Thanks to the passion and commitment of everyone in the branches, offices and warehouse locations over the last seven years, together we’ve raised an incredible £2million. The continued and ongoing support means that we are ever closer to supporting every young person with cancer in the UK. On behalf of all of the young people we support, thank you City Plumbing and PTS!”
Further events and fundraising activities are planned for the rest of 2018 and into 2019 as the relationship between City Plumbing, PTS and Teenage Cancer Trust continues.
