City Plumbing/PTS is reportedly the first merchanting organisation in the UK to be awarded the DVSA Earned Recognition award for vehicle operators.
The company was awarded the DVSA Earned Recognition award for vehicle operators – the first in our industry and a first for the Travis Perkins Group. This follows the recent win of Fleet Van Operator of the Year at the Motor Transport Awards.
The DVSA Earned Recognition scheme is a new way for vehicle operators to prove they meet driver and vehicle standards. In return, City Plumbing/PTS vehicles are less likely to be stopped for inspections. It’s a voluntary scheme that’s designed to work for operators of all sizes. To be accredited, City Plumbing/PTS needed to continuously monitor compliance, use a DVSA-validated IT system and be compliant with vehicle and road safety standards.
Being part of the Earned Recognition scheme may prevent the need to pull over our drivers at the roadside meaning our drivers are less likely to be delayed when delivering orders to customers.
Andrew Harrison, CEO, states: “Being the first organisation in the UK merchant sector to be awarded this recognition is great for City Plumbing/PTS. This is huge recognition for our transport team, both in the centre and in our branches – this is a fantastic achievement.
We take our responsibility for operating a safe fleet of vehicles extremely seriously and the accreditation of this scheme confirms that.”
There are currently 68 operators in the scheme including The AA, Cemex, DHL, John Lewis, Sainsburys, Wincanton and XPO.
