With the UK’s commitment to net zero by 2050 and upcoming legislation changes set to shake up the heating industry, City Plumbing Supplies has revealed it is investing heavily into its renewable heating offer for 2022, starting with the launch of its new Energy Efficiency website.
The new website is intended to help installers, homeowners, housing developers and housing associations access the merchant’s “expert knowledge and products” required for both new build and retrofit projects, as well as providing easy-to-digest information on legislation, training and technical guidance.
The website is part of a wider Energy Efficiency at City Plumbing investment to prepare itself and its customers for the forecasted increase in demand for renewables in 2022 and beyond. In addition, the business has increased its design and technical capability with the recruitment of more renewable technology specialists.
Steve Smith, Managing Director of Energy Efficiency, Electrical and Underfloor at City Plumbing, said: “With the current and proposed legislation changes, and the increasing public interest in renewable technologies and solutions, it’s crucial that the UK’s installers, developers, and landlords are prepared.
“We saw a much larger appetite for renewable technologies among our customers last year and predict an even larger demand during 2022, however, we understand that there is still a lot of confusion in the market. This is why we are investing heavily in our Energy Efficiency offer, starting with a new website to showcase our commitment to supporting the industry through the changes. As part of this investment, we are also pleased to welcome more renewable specialists who are on hand to support our customers.”
He added: “If the heating industry is to make a success of its role in meeting the UK’s net-zero targets, merchants will play a key role in making renewable technologies accessible. Our improved Energy Efficiency service will not only support our customers in accessing expert knowledge when specifying renewable systems but also pair them with technology from the world’s leading suppliers.”
City Plumbing states it has been offering design support and distribution for renewable heating products for over a decade, with its industry experts providing advice on an ever-growing list of sustainable technologies. The merchant – now part of the Highbourne Group following its sale by Travis Perkins last year – currently supplies solutions for a wide range of renewable systems, in a range of locations, with renewable products available next day from over 350 branches nationwide.
Its offer includes air source and ground source heat pumps, solar thermal and solar photovoltaic panels, biomass boilers, wastewater heat recovery systems, underfloor heating and more. The business is also said to be investing in extensive training across its branch network to ensure its capabilities remain in line with the growth of the renewables market.
As part of its continuing commitment to support the industry in its transition to renewables, Energy Efficiency at City Plumbing has also been running webinars to help installers to understand more about legislation, alongside ‘Future of Heating’ events in partnership with key organisations such as Vaillant, MCS, and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
