Another independent builders’ merchant has joined the growing ranks of the h&b Development Group with Middlesborough-based Cleveland Timber becoming its latest member.
Cleveland Timber is a single-branch timber specialist that was established in 1976, still owned and run by the Love family. The firm delivers timber products across the north east and services the fencing, landscaping and building industries with decking, sheet timber, fencing products, insulation and timber roofing materials.
Looking to use h&b’s buying deals with the biggest brands in the building industry, the business is planning to expand its offering across heavyside building supplies including insulation and plasterboard to better service its existing customers and building new relationships across the region.
“We researched the buying group options open to use very carefully,” said Cleveland’s Adam Love. “h&b offers the best fit for our business, and joining the h&b Development Group simply made sense. We are keen to grow our business both organically at Middlesborough and possibly with a new branch, and we know that the deals and the support that h&b can offer us will give us the clout to do that strategically and securely.”
The h&b Development Group was established to offer smaller independent merchants an opportunity to “power up their growth and eventually join the industry’s most progressive and innovative buying group”, with h&b having a combined buying power of more than £1 billion and coverage across the length and breadth of the UK through its 100+ members.
With a dedicated team helping Development Group members to graduate to the main group, h&b says that membership “offers merchants a real chance to expand and develop their business quickly (through) prudent management.”
