Collier & Catchpole has outlined its commitment to its local community by supporting two important local projects, supporting a vocational course at Stanway School, and Combat2Cofee, a support outlet for Armed Forces veterans.
Stanway School:
Stanway School in Essex have set up a new vocational course and qualification to teach their students about construction and the built environment. Collier & Catchpole has supplied the school with a cement mixer to give the local students the opportunity to learn the skill of brick-laying.
The students have already completed modules in carpentry, painting and decorating and are now ready to move onto brick-laying, a course which is due to start after half-term. Stuart Wilkinson, Head of Design Technology, was photographed with his students opening the cement mixer from Collier & Catchpole on Wednesday, 12 February.
Combat2Coffee:
Combat2Coffee was formed as a support outlet for the Armed Forces veterans who may be struggling with life outside of service. The founder Nigel, after serving with the army for 12 years, began suffering from depression, anxiety and flashbacks from an incident experienced during his time on operations with the armed forces.
Diagnosed as suffering from PTSD, Neil found inspiration from the support he received with Combat Stress and Help 4 Heroes and created Combat2Coffee. The project is a way for Nigel to provide purposeful rehabilitation, veteran outreach and a training course for recovering veterans and their families.
Collier & Catchpole supported Nigel’s project of Combat2Coffee by providing him with the wood he needed for his coffee bar. The café was launched on Friday, 14 February in Princes Street, Ipswich, when everyone was able to enjoy a free coffee to celebrate the opening day.
