Continued Success for Flame Heating Spares

An entrepreneur from the North-East and owner of one the region’s fastest growing heating & plumbing merchants has been recognised with another prestigious honour.

John Savage, Managing Director of Flame Heating Spares, was awarded the Emerging Talent Award at the Entrepreneurs’ Forum annual Entrepreneurial Awards, which follows his 2016 Institute of Directors North East Young Director of the Year accolade.

The award was presented to John, being described as ‘someone who is building a business of outstanding potential with six years or less of trading.’

Flame Heating Spares was established by John in 2011, and has grown from a single branch in Gateshead to six throughout the region, with a turnover of £6.4m and 23 employees.

John said: “It has been another record year for Flame, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my colleagues, our loyal trade partners and customers. I am extremely proud to have been recognised within the North East business community again, which was unexpected, and I would like to thank the Entrepreneurs’ Forum for presenting me with this award.

“This is only the beginning as we are planning to launch even more branches over the coming years, as well as doubling our staff and establishing a greater geographical presence across the North East. Hopefully we can build on our recent successes and our long-term vision for the company will come into fruition.”

The Entrepreneurs’ Forum is made up of more than 300 individual member companies across the North East and its members’ combined turnover is in excess of £2 billion per annum, employing more than 20,000 people.

Entrepreneurs’ Forum Chairman Nigel Mills said: “On behalf of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum I would like to congratulate John on his well-deserved award. High-growth businesses are providing the jobs and prosperity that our region needs. We present these awards not only to recognise success, but to thank entrepreneurs who help others to build their businesses. By working together and sharing the benefits of our collective experience, we continue to make business a force for social good in the North East.”

The Entrepreneurial Awards were in partnership with the North East Local Enterprise Partnership and took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
