Surrey-based DW Burns Plumbers Merchants & Showroom is celebrating the career of team member Roger Shippard, who has been with the company for an incredible 48 years.
As DW Burns’ longest-serving employee, Roger’s dedication and commitment have made him a beloved figure among both colleagues and customers alike. Roger, who will turn 74 years old in September, began his career with DW Burns as a buyer, gradually advancing to the position of assistant manager.
Currently serving as the storeman, Roger’s wealth of experience and extensive knowledge have been invaluable to the company. Reflecting on his time with DW Burns, Roger highlighted the significant changes that have occurred over the years.
He commented: “Everything becoming digitalized has been the biggest transformation during my time here. When I first started, everything was handwritten, from orders to inventory management. Now, it’s all at the click of a button. I’ve stayed with DW Burns for so long because I’ve found not just colleagues, but great friends here, and I take immense pride in being part of a company that puts its staff and customers first.”

DW Burns has plumbers merchants located in Woking and Farnham, and a large bathroom showroom in Kanphill, Woking. The business is part of the Independent Builders Merchants Group, which also include Grant & Stone, Chandlers Building Supplies, Fairalls and RGB Building Supplies.
