Filplastic designs branch for the trade and retail alike

Newport paint merchant the Colour Centre is in the pink thanks to design and fit-out specialist Filplastic Ltd.

Filplastic, based near Howden in East Yorkshire, worked with the Welsh company to launch its latest branch on Western Road in Bracknell, Berkshire.

The branch, which is the Colour Centre’s first multi-purpose outlet aimed at both trade and retail, consists of a trade counter, shop and storage area, and a showroom built on a mezzanine floor.

It runs to around 4,200sqft and is the merchant’s eighth outlet which, along with the others, furthers the company’s extensive coverage across the West Midlands, South Wales and the South West.

Mark Langley, Managing Director of the Colour Centre, said Filplastic worked with them from the inception of the branch – a new build situated on a Trade City in the west of the town.

He said: “We wanted to move away from our traditional layout and towards something that retail customers would feel comfortable visiting as well as trade, so we worked together with Filplastic to design a new layout that would accommodate all of our storage needs but give the branch a different look and feel.

“We were able to source a lot of storage solutions via Filplastic’s catalogue and website, and its CAD designs for the layout meant we were able to see exactly how the finished branch would look. Seeing that come to life is fantastic, it was achieved by working closely with its team and through the first-class products and service it provides.”

Filplastic won the contract via a tender process which saw it as the chosen design partner and supplier of shelving and other storage products.

The company provided shelving for the shop and showroom, heavy duty long span for the warehouse area and light duty long span for the stockroom.

Graham Matthews, Filplastic Business Development Manager, said he was delighted with the way the branch had turned out.

He commented: “The Colour Centre had a solid idea about how it wanted this branch to look and feel, and our job was to turn that into a reality. It is a fantastic company to work with and between us we designed and created something unique that fulfilled the brief of being attractive to trade and retail alike.

“It is always great to see projects like this come to fruition and I wish the Colour Centre lots of success with their new Bracknell branch.”
