Flame Heating Group has announced it has won the Let’s Grow Award at the North East Business Awards. The accolade recognises companies that have demonstrated rapid growth over the last 12 months.
The Gateshead-headquartered independent, which operates 10 branches across the UK, saw a £14.5m turnover in 2017, up from £6.4m a year earlier, as well as increasing its workforce to more than 50 employees.
It now operates eight branches in the North East and two outlets in Scotland, with a third planned for north of the border this Spring. Flame also has plans to launch at least one further branch in 2018, in Cumbria.
The North East Business Awards is said to be regarded as one of the most prestigious events in the region, and recognises business excellence from companies operating across the North East. After winning the Northumberland & Tyneside heat in February, Flame advanced to the Grand Final of the awards.
John Savage, Managing Director of Flame Heating Group, commented: “This is a major signal of intent for Flame, following years of strong growth, culminating in a record year in 2017. It is a fantastic achievement for everyone associated with the company as the awards were fiercely contested by a number of the North’s growing firms.
“We are now gearing up for even more expansion and strong growth, which will extend the Flame brand further across the UK, as well as create a number of new jobs.”
John added: “Our team has worked incredibly hard throughout our rapid growth journey, and this latest recognition is a testament to their continued dedication and support of our customers. Hopefully we will be celebrating further success in the future, in line with our ambitious strategies.”
