ForgeFix has now officially launched its campaign to ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ in partnership with Prostate Cancer UK, as it aims to raise £100,000 and get 100,000 men to check their risk of prostate cancer.
Ahead of the launch, ForgeFix had been pre-selling a bespoke promotional range of products to its network of merchants which are now available across the UK, from independents such as Kellaway Building Supplies and Selhurst Timber, through to national operators including Travis Perkins.
In addition, this important campaign is being supporting by industry leading institutions such as the NBG, H&B and IBC buying groups, along with the BMF and NMBS, who are all throwing their weight behind the ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ campaign.
On all of ForgeFix’s Screw Prostate Cancer products and point-of-sale materials, the award-winning Prostate Cancer UK online risk checker – accessible here or via the QR code – is available for men to scan and swiftly and simply use to check their risk.
For every single sale of its Spectre ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ cases ForgeFix will donate £2 to Prostate Cancer UK, and in addition the company is also donating 1% of all sales from its entire Spectre screw range through 2026.
Now that the ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ range of ForgeFix’s Spectre products is on the shelves, it’s over to construction sector workers and passionate DIYers to support the campaign.
1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer, and it is now England’s most common cancer. It’s also the only major cancer without a screening programme. You’re at higher risk if you’re over 50 and your risk increases as you get older. If you’re Black, or if your dad or brother have had it, you’re at even higher risk.
To further support its ambitious target of raising £100,000 for the charity, ForgeFix is launching several exciting company-wide fundraising initiatives, including running four marathons across the four nations of the UK.
There is increasing awareness of the importance of testing for prostate cancer – and growing calls for a nationwide screening programme – and ForgeFix is in a key position to support the charity by targeting the male-dominated construction sector, a demographic of men who are statistically less likely to seek prostate cancer tests.
In each marathon ForgeFix’s duo of runners will be wearing a specially designed Screw Prostate Cancer suit – in the shape and style of a screw – and will be aiming to complete at least one of these challenges in a world record breaking time…for a participant dressed as a tool.
Paul Swift, Managing Director Galleon Fixings: ForgeFix / H&C ForgeFix, commented: “We’re proud to launch this campaign as we strive to make a tangible difference to the lives of people in the construction sector. Everybody knows somebody who has been affected by cancer and our Screw Prostate Cancer campaign is a way of raising awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK that could make a meaningful difference to the lives of our colleagues, customers, family and friends.”
Prostate Cancer UK Head of Partnerships James Steven said: “Our Screw Prostate Cancer campaign with ForgeFix is a brilliant way of raising awareness about prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men.
“The ForgeFix team has developed a campaign that will make a real impact for men and their families across the UK, and we’re excited to be working with them to fund more ground-breaking research towards a screening programme, to catch prostate cancer early and save lives.”
