The George Bence Group opened its fourth branch on the 19th January with a location outside the idyllic village of Bourton on the Water. Recently knighted, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, the longstanding MP for the Cotswolds was present to cut the ribbon.
The 164-year-old fifth generation family independent company had recently diversified with a Roofing Centre, Decorating Centre increasing its multi-branch, product specialisation across Gloucestershire and surrounding counties.
It has created nine new jobs in the area with its Bourton Team focusing on heavyside materials, timber, DIY and paint supplies. This compliments its existing kitchen & bathroom showroom in the area, Obsidian alongside the Decorating Centre. The product offering embraces premium paint brands including Farrow & Ball, Paint & Paper Library and Little Green, alongside deluxe wallpapers and expert consultancy advice on interiors.
Paul Bence, Managing Director of the George Bence Group commented: “We are very proud to open our fourth branch in a vicinity which has been highly sought after. It very much fits within our long term strategic development plans and complements our existing lightside business in the area.
“We listen carefully to our client’s needs and it was very clear that the area was lacking choice and service in building material supplies. The very experienced team in branch will be able to provide expert assistance and service to our established loyal clientele working in this part of the Cotswolds and support a new customer base. This is another marker in our initial target of ten branches as we look to expand our regional presence further afield.
“We are very honoured that Sir Geoffrey was able to open the branch, especially with it being his first official engagement after his knighthood. He has served the Cotswolds gracefully for 25 years and I hope that we can perform within the area as well as he has.”
Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown commented: “I was delighted to open the George Bence Group’s new fourth branch in the Cotswolds. I have always been a very satisfied customer and it is excellent to see this family-run company expanding further in the Cotswolds.”
