Global Stone has announced the acquisition of Digby Stone.
Established in 2008 by Darren and Claire Digby, Digby Stone has grown rapidly become one of the leading suppliers of natural stone and porcelain paving in the UK.
Speaking about the company’s expansion and the new deal, Darren said: “We have built a very strong and loyal customer base during this time but recognised that we needed to strengthen our supply chain to retain consistent high levels of customer service. The constant challenge facing Digby Stone moving forward was to secure continuity of supply through a combination of product and shipping.
“We see this as an exciting opportunity that secures the long-term interests of our personnel and customers.”
He added: “Global Stone, like Digby Stone, has a similar ethos and this combined with strong branding will bring an enviable offer to the hard landscaping market. I look forward to the year ahead and to working closely with my new colleagues at Global Stone.”
Under the arrangement, the management of Digby Stone will remain unchanged with Darren Digby leading the company as Managing Director.
Julian Wood, Managing Director of Global Stone, said: “I have known Darren for many years and look forward to working with him and his team.”
Harsh Kalani, Global Stone Owner/Director, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Digby Stone into the Global Stone family. Our shared values toward our customers and employees convinced us that this was a logical next step for us. In addition to sharing best practices and leveraging industry-leading resources, I am excited by the opportunities that we will create for our employees to continue growing, while keeping the customer at the centre of everything we do. This acquisition is consistent with our long-term growth strategy and further strengthens our presence in the UK.”
Global Stone started business in 2003 as a supplier of natural stone paving. Since then, it has grown to be one of the leading suppliers of natural stone and porcelain to the independent builders’ merchant sector in the UK. In 2018, it was acquired by Shree Agencies, its key natural stone supplier which has further strengthened its position in the marketplace as a manufacturer and supplier, ensuring “an increased capability and commitment to supply”.
