Lords has continued its expansion programme with the strategic acquisition of Alloway Timber & Builders Merchants. The move brings an additional five branches into the fold of the h&b Group, bringing the buying group’s total branch count to 368.
Established in 1971, Alloway is an independent, family-run merchant with a presence across five key locations in the South East of England: Mitcham, Cheam, Byfleet, Kingston, and Putney. The business specialises in supplying top-quality timber and general building supplies, making it a perfect fit – geographically and strategically – with the Lords Builders Merchant network and expanding its presence to 17 strategic locations in London and the surrounding area.
Shanker Patel, Chief Executive Officer of Lords, said: “We are delighted to announce the successful acquisition of Alloway Timber and extend a warm welcome to their 83 colleagues as they become part of the Lords Group family. The acquisition is complementary to our existing Lords Builders Merchants business with strong synergies and will increase our customer base -along with further increasing our geographic presence in the South East.”
h&b is a leading consortium of independent builders’ and timber merchants with a “mission to empower independent merchants by providing the benefits of a cohesive network and improved buying deals.” The organisation further states that its “commitment extends to sustainability, embracing eco-friendly solutions and responsible sourcing practices” and adds: “As the construction industry evolves, h&b remains committed to growth, adaptation, and innovation, ensuring its members are well-prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.”
