Illingworth Ingham has expanded its branch network with the acquisition of Waterloo Timber, a Clitheroe based timber merchant with mill and machining facilities, bringing the h&b branch network of independent builders merchants to well over 100.
Illingworth Ingham was founded over 90 years ago in Manchester and remains a truly independent, family-owned and -led merchanting business with a strong reputation in timber. Operating from a seven-acre site in Trafford Park Manchester plus depots in Stockport, Hyde, Stretford and two branches in Macclesfield, the company has its own transport fleet, 150,000 square feet of warehousing, and machining, treatment and finishing facilities for a wide range of hardwood and softwood timbers.
Waterloo Timber, a similarly well-established dedicated timber specialist fitted this Illingworth Ingham culture and profile perfectly. Well-established with tradesmen in its local community and with a strong reputation as the go-to location in the town for all things timber, Waterloo Timber will retain its own branding within the Illingworth Ingham family.
The Illingworth Ingham management team has worked closely with h&b through the process to transform the Waterloo Timber branch. “The whole h&b team has been immensely helpful in getting the new branch fully stocked as a h&b Group member branch,” says Illingworth Ingham’s Adrian Thornley. “The group’s suppliers have also been very supportive in stocking the branch at a time when availability of product is something of an issue – being part of h&b has made the stocking process possible.”
