After two years of internal focus and consolidation, the Anglesey-based company is back on the acquisition trail.
The recent acquisition of the well-established R.W. Almond Builders Merchants, which is located between Liverpool and Southport, takes the number of Merseyside braches to six and total trading branches to 44, and further strengthens Huws Gray’s position in the North West. This share purchase deal follows a two year period of consolidation and preparation for the next stage of growth for one of the UK’s largest independent builder’s merchants.
Terry Owen, Managing Director, is delighted with the recent acquisition as he commented: “We are extremely excited to be opening a new branch in Formby; it has a fantastic customer base and fits in perfectly with our existing branch locations.
“I would like to thank Chris, Dave, Pat and Sue at Almond’s for a smooth acquisition and for the positive reception we’ve received from everyone. We are keen to ensure that Huws Gray maintains the Almond family’s excellent reputation, as well as working alongside the existing team to further develop opportunities within the Formby branch.”
Dave Almond from R.W. Almond said: “We have been very impressed and are appreciative of the way the Huws Gray team has conducted the takeover. As a family, we share their core values of motivated happy staff and great customer service and we’re looking forward to see the branch develop in the future.”
John Llewelyn Jones, Chairman of Huws Gray, said, “After a period of consolidation with focus on strengthening our existing branch network, and a very busy 2015 on the marketing front in celebrating our 25th anniversary, we are extremely delighted to hit the acquisition trail again this summer, and are confident that we will be in a position to make further announcements shortly.”
