Huws Gray Group has announced the completion of its fifth deal of 2021 with the acquisition of TBS Building Supplies based in Towcester and Daventry, Northamptonshire.
Established in 1978, TBS Building Supplies is a mixed merchant servicing both trade and retail customers. Matthew Owen, Head of Acquisitions for Huws Gray Group, said: “The acquisition of TBS marks our commitment to grow Huws Gray in Northamptonshire and beyond. We are truly optimistic for what the future holds and excited to acquire a company whose local reputation and great customer service is at the forefront of what it does. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to the group.”
Speaking of the sale, Richard Harpham, Chair of TBS added: “We are delighted to see TBS become part of the Huws Gray business, from the outset it was clear that our family values and commitment to excellent customer service as a traditional merchant were aligned with Huws Gray. It is an exciting time for TBS to become part of this dynamic group, providing job security for our staff and allowing us to continue to provide the best possible service to our customers.”
The acquisition of a further two branches in Northamptonshire doubles the company’s presence in the county and is said to reinforce its commitment to connecting its established sites across the UK.
In what has been a landmark year for the business, in which it notably acquired the Grafton Group’s traditional GB merchant businesses including Buildbase, the Huws Gray Group states it is “particularly excited for the future and remains committed to growing the business through further acquisition, and by creating more opportunities in its branches and support centres on Anglesey and in Cambridge”.
