The IBC Buying Group has announced the appointment of Dave Robertson as its new Commercial Director who brings 35 years’ experience within the construction industry.
This includes time spent as Commercial Director of a leading national merchant chain within Grafton Group and, more recently, he played a fundamental role in the strategic growth of supplier Fakro GB, as the company enhanced its market position in the roof window sector.
His career path has seen him work closely alongside many independent businesses and suppliers, and he amassed extensive experience in multi-branch operations during his time as Commercial Director for Buildbase, where he held responsibility for 150 branches.
Dave will work closely with fellow Commercial Director Paul Read where, together, they will liaise with IBC’s merchant members and supplier partners in a bid to negotiate successful deals that bring benefits to both parties.
Dave said: “When the opportunity came along to get involved with IBC, it was simply too good to pass up. IBC are at a pivotal stage in their growth, and the passion and enthusiasm that the team have as they take the buying group to the next level is something I can’t wait to get involved with.”
Dave has joined the team at a pivotal time for IBC. The Consortium has spent the past year enhancing its systems and processes to ensure it can offer the best professional support, product deals and benefits for independent timber, plumbing and heating, specialist and general builders’ merchants.
These new systems and processes are centred around the core pillars of Membership, Commercial, Data and Marketing, bringing renewed focus to IBC as it works to take its service offering to the next level.
A new members portal also means IBC members can now access all their account details online at any time, as well as having instant access to the latest supplier deals, products, rebate information and performance figures.
IBC also offers its members a wide range of support services to help support their own businesses, including an external sales team, marketing support, and dedicated accounts managers – all designed to work with members to deliver value and strengthen their businesses.
Kishor Harsiani, Strategy and Finance Director at IBC, said: “IBC works to deliver partnerships of strength and value to our members and suppliers. We recognise that the industry is always changing and no organisation can afford to rest on its laurels – that’s why we’ve invested in putting the right systems and processes in place to make IBC the true partner that members and suppliers need to grow.
“Great organisations are made with great people, we’re thrilled that Dave Robertson is joining the Board of IBC. His proven commercial track record in the merchant industry and his experience in developing business through partnerships means he is perfectly placed to help IBC achieve its strategic vision for the future.”
