From 24 March, Team IBC is cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Unitas OnSide Youth Zone – without leaving home.
Led by Commercial Director Dave Robertson, the IBC team will be riding the 980-mile course from Lands’ End to John O’Groats over nine gruelling days. Dave will cycle the entire course, during which time he will ‘virtually’ pass iconic landmarks including St Michael’s Mount, the Severn Bridge, the Grampian Mountains and the Cairngorms National Park, before ‘arriving’ at John O’Groats on 1 April.
IBC is calling on its industry colleagues, Supplier Partners and Merchants to join us and cycle some, all, or part of the route with Dave. The entire challenge will be streamed live online so that colleagues, Suppliers and Members can join in, and a central JustGiving page has been set up at www.justgiving.com/campaign/greatstridesforyouth where people can sponsor this epic journey and raise money for a very worthwhile cause.
OnSide Youth Zone is a national charity that creates modern, purpose-built facilities for young people aged between eight and 19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities. The charity provides a safe, fun environment where young people can have fun, learn new skills, and grow the confidence to create a happier and healthier generation.
Young people’s physical and mental health has been seriously affected by the Covid pandemic, and the Unitas OnSide Youth Zone is currently raising money to create a brand-new outdoor area where its members can meet, socialise and learn new skills in a safe and positive way. All the sponsorship money raised by IBC, its Members and Suppliers will be given to this project, with any additional monies going to the national OnSide Youth Zone charity.
Dave’s progress will be announced each day on social media, so you can see how far he’s travelled, learn more about the OnSide charity, and see how much money has been raised by following IBC Buying Group on LinkedIn, Facebook, and on Twitter at @ibcbuyingpower.
