Ibstock Brick once again triumphed at the Brick Awards, winning seven categories at the prestigious event.
Organised by the Brick Development Association (BDA), the Leicestershire-based company secured top honours in seven categories, receiving additional commendations from the expert judging panel in three categories.
Its biggest success this year came from South Gardens – a regeneration project in Elephant and Castle, London, which was named as the Supreme Award Winner, having already picked up the Large Housing Development Award.
Other success at the awards included:
- The RIBA Stirling Prize nominated project at Barrett’s Grove in Stoke Newington, which used Ibstock Brick’s Birtley Olde English Buff brick to create a perforated façade, was the winner of the Small Housing Development and received a commendation in the Innovative Use of Brick and Clay category.
- West Croydon Bus Station was the winner of the Outdoor Space Award, and was commended in the Public Building Award category.
- Barratt London scooped the Large House Builder Award, using glazed bricks at its Blackfriars project – a development in London of five mixed-use buildings.
- Lady Margaret Hall, which was built using Grosvenor Light Red brick in its construction, was the Craftsmanship Award winner. It was also one of the projects used by Lee Marley Brickwork to scoop the Specialist Brickwork Contractor Award.
Simon Rogers, Head of Marketing at Ibstock, comments: “The standard at this year’s Brick Awards was extremely high, so winning seven categories goes a long way to cement our position as the market leader.
“The award-winning projects highlight the versatility of brick as a modern building material. It is being used in ever more innovative ways and the winning projects showed how creatively it can be used in a building’s fabric. They showcase the best of brick and illustrate the vast array of aesthetic looks and finishes that can be achieved. We’d like to congratulate everybody involved in these projects as they are a fantastic showcase for brick.”
The Brick Awards celebrate the best of contemporary clay brickwork and architecture and were held at The Hilton, Park Lane, London on Thursday 9 November 2017.
