IDS has announced its vinyl tile flooring, Malmo Rigid, is the first flooring in its category to be endorsed by underfloor heating firm Uponor for use over its Minitec water-piped underfloor heating (UFH) system.
Malmo Rigid has been added to Uponor’s list of recommended floor coverings, widening its potential for use in both domestic and commercial settings.
Uponor’s backing follows independent performance tests by Exova BM TRADA of its tiles and plank formats over their own water-piped UFH system, which reportedly showed no significant movement or change in visual effects.
Tony Locke, IDS’s Technical Services Manager, said: “Following the successful independent performance tests we’re delighted to have Uponor’s official seal of approval with them adding Malmo Rigid to their list of recommended floor coverings.
“The UK underfloor heating market is increasing year on year, particularly with the trend for open plan living, and luxury vinyl tile is one of the fastest growing products in our portfolio due to it being easy to install and maintain and offering lots of design potential. Customers can now have complete confidence when installing our LVT products over water-piped UFH.”
Malmo Rigid flooring features Välinge 5G installation system, which is said to make it fast and easy to fit, and has a built-in 1mm underlay. It comes in 17 tile and woodgrain designs and has a warranty of up to 15 years for residential applications and seven years for commercial applications.
