IKO PLC has been nominated in three separate awards schemes in September and October – the Highways Award for Sustainability & Environmental Performance, the LRWA Award for Liquid Waterproofing Project of the Year and the CMA 2017 Award for Best Social Media Campaign.
The nominations, plus a further four earlier in the year, illustrate the scope of IKO’s operations in different industries, covering roofing, waterproofing, highways/civils, and car parks, says the company.
For the Highways Award, IKO was shortlisted for the use of IKO Permatrack on projects including Tower Bridge in London and Netheridge Swing Bridge, Gloucester. Each project demanded high environmental standards and the mastic asphalt used on Tower Bridge and on Netheridge Swing Bridge project was entirely offset using internationally approved carbon credits.
The LRWA (Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association) Award nomination covers IKO’s work on Broadway Plaza, a large multi-use complex in central Birmingham hosting multiple leisure facilities. Winners are announced on 8th November.
The CMA Award finalist for Best Social Media Campaign is for the #NoMorePotholes ‘duck’ campaign. To celebrate the first anniversary of the campaign in February 2017, IKO gave away 500 plastic ducks via social media. The ducks have been pictured in potholes around the country, highlighting the issue, the inefficiency of most repairs, and IKO’s long-lasting solution. They’ve even found their way into the hands of MPs and have helped to secure some pothole repairs!
Earlier this year IKO celebrated two wins in the MAC Awards for IKO’s Approved Contractors (Contractor of the Year and Road Safety Experience), an NFRC Award nomination for Tower Bridge and being shortlisted in the British Parking Association Awards for Best Car Park Refurbishment.
