JB Kind has announced that its fundraising efforts over the last two years have totaled up to almost £8,000, beating its target of £5,000.
JB Kind, which sells more than a quarter of a million doors each year and offers more than 200 different door designs, has spent the last 24 months raising money for its chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
The charity was chosen to be the firm’s dedicated charity for a two year period as the Charity Committee felt that this cause had touched so many of JB Kind’s staff and families.
The 2017 & 2018 programmes of fundraising has been described as fun, challenging and often unique – unusual activities have reportedly become the company’s charitable trademark, as has the regular involvement of JB Kind workforce’s families in its charitable efforts. For example, a 10-mile trek carrying one of its own wooden doors with staff, friends and family.
Other charitable activities have included dress down days, raffles, cake sales and Christmas Jumper Days. JB Kind’s 2018 Golf Day and its staff-run Tuck Shop are said to both merit a special mention, with £2,500 and £750 raised respectively.
JB Kind Managing Director, James Cadman, said: “There isn’t a person within JB Kind that hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way, and that’s why we decided that we would dedicate two years of our fundraising work to Macmillan Cancer Support.
“We had planned to raise £5,000 for Macmillan, but we are thrilled to announce that we have significantly surpassed this target, with our actual final total being £7,838! This is a tribute to the hard work of everyone within JB Kind, as well as their families and those people and businesses kind enough to donate. However, particular recognition should go to the members of our Charity Committee who have spent many long hours organising and delivering our fundraising activities over the last two years.
“The money we have raised will support Macmillan’s Grant Programme in South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire – this means we will be directly helping those in need in our local community. Macmillan Grants are an essential part of practically supporting those people affected by this life-changing disease.”
Steve Loane, Macmillan Area Fundraising Manager for Derbyshire, added: “A huge thank you to everyone at JB Kind for their wonderful support over for the past two years and for raising such a fantastic amount. We want to help everyone with cancer find their best way through, from the moment of diagnosis, so they’re able to live life as fully as they can. This donation of £7,838 will make a big difference, we rely almost 99% on support like JB Kind’s, and without it none of this would be possible. Thank you again and best wishes for 2019.”
