Balfour Beatty Living Places and Jewson donate 250 snow shovels

Balfour Beatty Living Places has teamed up with UK builders’ merchant, Jewson, to donate 250 snow shovels to West Sussex parishes, aiding residents’ preparations to stay safe this winter.

Balfour Beatty Living Places and West Sussex County Council work in partnership as West Sussex Highways to repair, maintain and improve roads and pathways across West Sussex. Jewson, the UK’s leading supplier of building materials, supports West Sussex Highways as a key material supply partner.

Balfour Beatty Living Places and Jewson have come together to offer snow shovels to communities in order to promote safety and keep communities on the move, even if snow should fall this winter.

Steve Phillips, Contract Director for Balfour Beatty Living Places, commented: “We’re proud to have been providing gritting services to West Sussex for 4 years. During the winter months, we work to keep the roads clear and safe for road users, and this initiative is another way we’re helping to help keep the county moving. Snow can be difficult to clear from paths, so we’re doing all we can to prepare communities for a cold winter by providing proper snow shovels.

Martin Cope, Balfour Beatty National Account Manager at Jewson, commented: “Winter can often be a hazardous time, particularly for the more vulnerable members of society. However, by planning ahead you are more likely to keep safe and well.

“By donating the shovels, we’re helping the community in West Sussex to prepare for the snowy season, and we’re proud to be a part of the initiative.”

David Barling, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services, said: “Keeping our communities safe and well during the winter is a priority, so our thanks go out to Balfour Beatty and Jewson for this gift. These shovels are valuable tools and we will be working hard to distribute them effectively around the county.”
