Employees at JT Dove Ltd have swapped tools for trainers in order to embark on a series of charity fundraising efforts that aims to donate £20,000 to the Children’s Heart Unit Fund at the Freeman Hospital.
Last year, JT Dove raised a massive £10,000 as part of the CHUF ‘n’ builders initiative. This year, the team is looking to double up on their success and raise £20,000 through a wide range of fundraisers and events, culminating with 16 employees competing in the infamous Great North Run with a goal of raising at least £4,000.
Both JT Dove and the Children’s Heart Unit Fund are based in the North East – an important factor for the builder’s merchant. Steve Robinson, Managing Director at JT Dove, was enthusiastic about the charity: “We wanted to raise a meaningful amount of money for a charity where that money would make a real, tangible difference. CHUF is based in Newcastle so it’s close to our hearts, and it helps so many young children across the UK that it was an easy choice. Last year’s efforts were fantastic, and this year we’ve got lots going on across branches so we’re confident we can double up on the success.”
The charity effort sees all 17 JT Dove sites across the North East getting involved, with events being held throughout the year. By involving their customers, the business aims to make charity fun for all – with golf days, sponsored walks and bike rides, bake sales, body waxing and even a charity van wash.
A customer race day held earlier in the year in Gosforth Park has already raised £6,000 towards the target.
JT Dove is confident it will hit the £20,000 target and wants to encourage the public to donate, which can be done by calling 01912295025 or emailing: lyndaparkin@jtdove.co.uk
